AUDRY POOLE
AUDRY MAE POOLE,
daughter of Charles Benson and Georgia Maud (Reneau) Elmore, was
born July 11, 1933 at Oakwood, Oklahoma in Dewey County. She
departed this life on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the Thomas Nursing
Center. She was 77 years of age.
Audry
was raised in the Oakwood community where she attended all twelve
grades of her formal education, graduating from Oakwood High School
with the class of 1951. After high school, Audry moved to
Watonga where she worked for Pioneer Telephone Cooperative as one of
their last switchboard operators. While living in Watonga she
met the love of her life and was united in marriage to W. E. “Bill”
Poole July 10, 1956 at Clayton, New Mexico. They made their
first home in Watonga and it was their, she gave birth to their only
child. In 1963, they moved to Seiling where Bill was employed
for the City of Seiling and Audry began working for Polly Ruble in
the Dewey County Record newspaper. She later opened a dress
shop known as Audry’s Fashions which she operated several years. She
also worked as receptionist for Dr. Robert Marti, at his dental
practice in Seiling. Due to Bill’s military history, Audry actively
participated and contributed to Disabled American Veterans.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She
was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bill, May 6, 1995.
She continued to make her home in Seiling until her health impaired
her and she moved to the Thomas Nursing Center.
She
is survived by her daughter: Gay Lyn Ketcherside and husband Rick of
Seiling; one sister: Peggy Peterman of Thomas and one brother: Darel
Elmore of Watonga besides other relatives and many friends.
Besides her husband, she was preceded by her parents and two
brothers: Dean and Donald Elmore.
The
funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2011 at
the First United Methodist Church in Seiling with Pastors Michael
Brien and Orville White, officiating. Burial followed at 2:30
p.m. in I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Watonga under the direction of the
Redinger Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to the Area
Medical Foundation or to the Society for Prevention to Cruelty to
Animals.
