KENNETH F. “BOB” ESPY, son of Dennis Flynn and
Bertha Mae (Clark) Espy, was born December 27, 1920 on the Espy
family farm in the Riley Community in Dewey County, Oklahoma.
He departed this life early Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at his home
southeast of Vici at the age of 89 years.
He
began his formal education at the Riley School and graduated from
Richmond High School. He entered the United States Coast Guard
in 1941 and served his country during World War II. He was
honorably discharged in 1945 and returned to Oklahoma. He was
united in marriage to Mildred Naomi Griffith, July 18, 1947 at
Mutual, OK. They made their home on the family farm where they
raised their only daughter, Susan.
In the early 1950’s, Mildred and Kenneth moved
to Wichita, KS where he worked for Cessna Aircraft. He loved
the land and farming and continued his farming and ranching
operation until the past few years. He was a member of the
Veterans of Foreign War and a 33rd degree member of the
Scottish Rite. He was active in both Seiling and Vici Lodges.
He
is survived by his daughter: Susan Griffin and husband Ray of Vici;
two grandsons: Daniel Griffin and wife Ashley and Tim Griffin and
wife Heather; two great grandchildren: Kadence and Eli Griffin.
He is also survived by many other relatives and friends. He
was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mildred-June 27, 2000
and one sister.
The
funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010
at the Seiling Assembly of God Church with Pastor Gwen Rutz,
officiating. Interment followed in the Riley Cemetery.

of the funds.
