BOBBY
GENE JONES, son of Leonard Lee and Charlottie Rosie (Simons)
Jones, was born June 30, 1935 on the Jones family farm
southeast of Chester, Oklahoma in Major County. He
departed this life on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the Seiling
Community Hospital. He was 76 years of age.
Bob
was raised and educated southeast of Chester where he
attended Lakeside School. He was engaged in farming
and agriculture all his life. He attended diesel
mechanic schooling in Kansas City, Kansas and after
completing this training, he returned to Chester where he
worked for Leroy Webster with Webster Implement for several
years. He also worked for George Lemmons and later for
Craighead Implement as a mechanic. He also worked for
Major County District 2. Bob loved the land and he
enjoyed farming and raising cattle.
He was
united in marriage to Alberta Mae Thomas, March 7, 1966 at
Woodward. They made their home on the family farm near
Chester where they raised their family. He and his
family enjoyed camping, fishing on the river and deer
hunting. Bob and Alberta always raised a large garden
and canned from it to help provide for their large family.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His
grandchildren were very special to him.
Bob and
Alberta were members of the Elm Grove Community Church where
they could be found every Sunday and Wednesday. As
long as his health permitted, Bob enjoyed helping with the
preparation of the monthly rib dinners at the church.
He
is survived by his wife, Alberta Jones of Chester; one
daughter: Betty Hunter and husband Kevin of Ft. Supply;
three sons: Martin Jones of Seiling, Ken Jones and wife
Sonja of Ft. Supply and Troy Jones and Heather of Chester;
seven grandchildren: Melissa Rocha and husband Mateo, Allen
Jones, Michael Jones, Debbie Jones, Zach Hunter, Ashly Jones
and Bryan Jones; four great grandchildren: Mekenna Jones,
Sierra Calvillo, Rosalyn and Jalyssa Rocha; one sister:
Wiladean Fuqua and husband Doyle of Sedan, KS and one
brother: Robert Jones of Woodward. He is also survived
by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter
Brenda, one son Leroy, one infant granddaughter, one infant
brother and two sisters: Eileen Trim and Opal Lloyd.
The
funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday July 14,
2011 at the Elm Grove Community Church with Pastors Orville
White and Dennis Adair, officiating. Interment followed in the Hope Cemetery. Memorials can be made to
the Hope Cemetery with the Redinger Funeral Home-Box
236-Seiling, OK 73663, serving as custodian of the funds.
