BRUCE BENSCH

BRUCE LEE BENSCH,
youngest of two sons born to Jack Dempsey and Wilma Jean (Strecker)
Bensch, was born September 26, 1953 at Medicine Lodge, Kansas.
He departed this life on Sunday, April 25, 2010 as a result of an
automobile accident north of Putnam.
Bruce
began his formal education in Medicine Lodge. He moved to
Waukegan, IL with his family where he attended second and third
grades. They moved to Loogootee, IN where he attended third
and fourth grades. In the early 1960’s the family moved to
Seiling where Bruce attended Lakeside School and Seiling School.
He graduated from Seiling High School with the class of 1971.
He was united in marriage to Sheri Sharp May 25, 1973 and they had
one son: Jonny Lee. On September 21, 1979, he married Donna
(Champ) Seidel at the Methodist Church in Seiling. They had
two sons: Ryan David and Chad Brian. Bruce and Donna have made
their home southeast of Chester for 29 years where they raised their
family. Bruce enjoyed hunting with his sons; he liked playing
golf and was an avid Oklahoma Sooner fan. He became interested
in computer technology and he enjoyed helping others with computer
needs. He served on the Seiling School Board and was a member
of the First Christian Church in Seiling. At the time of his
sudden death, he was employed by ONEOK in the oil and gas industry
as a cathodic protection technician.
He
is survived by his wife, Donna Bensch of Chester; three sons: Jonny
Bensch and wife Alycia of Yukon, Ryan Bensch and wife Courtney of
Wichita, KS and Chad Bensch of Chester; two grandchildren: Jackson
and Ella Bensch; one brother: Barry Bensch and wife Delores of
Chester; his mother-in-law: Billie Bloomer-Evans of Clinton and he
is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends. He
was preceded in death by his parents and a step son: Shannon Seidel.
The
funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010
at the Seiling School Auditorium with Pastors Dennis Adair and
Orville White, officiating. Interment followed in the
Brumfield Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Brumfield
Cemetery or the Chester Historical Society Building Fund with the
Redinger Funeral Home-PO Box 236-Seiling, OK 73663, serving as
custodian of the funds.
