CHARLES DAILY
JOHN CHARLES DAILY,
son of Wilson D. and Ella (Christenson) Daily, was born
November 11, 1919 at Clinton, Oklahoma. He departed this life
early Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the Seiling Nursing Center
following an extended illness. He was 90 years of age.
He
was known to his family and friends as Charles and he began his
formal education in a one-room school near Clinton through the
eighth grade. He began his high school years at Clinton and
graduated from Elk City High School. He entered the United
States Army and served his country during World War II.
Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Oklahoma and began
working in sales for National Steel in Oklahoma City. He was
united in marriage to Vernice Ragan, February 25, 1947 in Oklahoma
City. They had three sons: Gary Ray, Charles Darrel and Robert
Wilson. Charles was transferred with National Steel to
Coffeyville, Kansas in 1958 and they made their home in South
Coffeyville, Oklahoma. He retired in 1981 and they continued
to make their home in South Coffeyville until 2007 when they moved
to Taloga. Charles was an avid golfer. When he wasn’t on
the golf course, he and Vernice enjoyed traveling and being with
their family. He was a member of the Coffeyville Christian
Church.
He
is survived by his wife of nearly sixty three years, Vernice Daily
of Taloga; three sons: Gary Daily of South Coffeyville, Darrel Daily
and wife Karen of Taloga and Robert Daily and wife Diane of South
Coffeyville; eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
He is also survived by many other relatives and friends. He
was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.
The
funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2010 at
the Redinger Funeral Home Chapel in Seiling with Pastor Michael
Brien, officiating. Interment followed in the Mound
Cemetery at Taloga. Memorials can be made to the Seiling
Nursing Center with the Redinger Funeral Home-PO Box 236-Seiling, OK
73663 serving as custodian of the funds.
