CHARLOTTE LINK

CHARLOTTE EUGENIE LINK, daughter of Charles Eugene and Flossie Elizabeth (Durfey) Leak, was born March 9, 1925.  She departed this life on Friday, November 27, 2009 at Kindred Hospital in Oklahoma City.  She was 84 years of age.

      Charlotte was raised in the Seiling area where she attended Guy elementary school and Seiling high school.  Charlotte and Orville Carlyle Link were united in marriage May 29, 1943 at Fairview, Oklahoma.  They had two children: Marilyn Kay and Lyle Eudean.  The family lived in Kansas, Idaho and Texas.  While living in Amarillo, Charlotte was manager over several fast food restaurants. She enjoyed cooking and she opened her own café in Seiling known as Charlotte’s Cozy Kitchen which she owned and operated for several years.  She gave of herself and when her husband, parents and her brother were unable to care for themselves due to illness, Charlotte cared for them in her home.  She loved to dance and even in her later years, she continued going to dances and “kicking up her heals”.  She enjoyed drives in the country looking at wildlife and she also liked going to the Lucky Star Casino in Clinton.

      She is survived by one son: Lyle Link of Amarillo, TX and one daughter: Marilyn Lynes of Seiling; two grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Orville Link, February 23, 1986, one brother: Edward Leak and one sister: Doris Poland. 

      The funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at the Seiling Assembly of God Church with Pastor Gwen Rutz officiating.  Interment followed in the Brumfield Cemetery under the direction of the Redinger Funeral Home.
