LAHOMA EDSEL
LAHOMA (LACKS)
EDSEL, daughter of Fred and Jessie (McCanless) Lacks, was born July
4, 1921 at Hugo, Oklahoma in Choctaw County. She departed this
life on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Senior Suites Living Center in
Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was 88 years of age.
Lahoma’s
father died at an early age leaving her mother with three young
daughters to raise. They moved to Seminole and later to the
Oklahoma City area where she attended school. She graduated
from Arcadia High School then furthered her education at Central
State College in Edmond. In 1938, the family moved to Major
County and settled in the Chester Community.
For
many years, Lahoma made her home in Oklahoma City where she owned
and operated Edsel Galleries specializing in French and English
antiques. Due to failing health, she moved to Tulsa to be
nearer her son.
She
is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Rod and Judy Garrett of
Tulsa; two grandchildren: Tonya Pingelton and husband Jason and
Justin Edsel; one great granddaughter: Audrey Pingelton; several
nieces and nephews including Carla Bennett, Virginia Scates, Barbara
Clarkson, Kathy Gibson, Teresa Polk, Gilbert, Robert and James
Cowan. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two
sisters.
The
graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the
Brumfield Cemetery near Seiling with Dennis Adair, Pastor of the
First Christian Church, officiating. Services were under the
direction of the Redinger Funeral Home in Seiling.
