LOIS
ELIZABETH (EDWARDS) HEDRICK, daughter of Nin and Ora (Heffington)
Edwards, was born July 15, 1926 at Lamar, Arkansas. She
departed this life on Friday, December 9, 2011 at the Seiling
Nursing Center at the age of 85 years.
At
an early age, Lois came to Oklahoma with her family settling
southeast of Seiling in Dewey County where she attended country
schools and later attended Seiling School. She married Doyle
Melvin Hedrick, August 3, 1946 at El Dorado, KS. They made
their first home northeast of Chester and later moved northwest of
Chester where they raised their family.
Lois
worked as a homemaker for her family and family was very important
to her. She enjoyed family reunions with her Edwards family
but her greatest joy was being with her children and grandchildren.
Lois liked raising a large garden and canning from it. She
also took painting lessons from Verla Severn and discovered her
ability to paint on canvas, as well as, other art forms. She
was active in the Chester Community Club and was a member of the
First United Methodist Church.
She
was preceded in death by her husband Doyle October 16, 1987, one
daughter, Roxanne in 1969, two sons, Keith in 1967 and Steve in
1980. She was also preceded by her parents, one sister, Alene
Squires and four brothers, Lester Boatright, Lawrence, Glen and
Clarence Edwards.
She
is survived by one son, Mickey Hedrick and wife Janet of Chester,
one daughter, Renae Foley and husband David of Moore, three
grandsons, Chad and Bryan Hedrick and Patrick Foley, four great
grandchildren, Regan, Colton, Taylor and Brock Hedrick, three
sisters: Virginia Hammon and Betty Reed both of Tulsa and Pauline
Long and husband Joe of Stroud. She is also survived by
several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The
funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2011
at the Redinger Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Orville White,
officiating. Interment followed in the Brumfield Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the Area Medial Foundation through the
funeral home.
