NORMA BUFFALOMEAT

    NORMA JEAN BUFFALOMEAT, one of twin daughters born to Dana Black and Mary May (Debrae) Black, was born April 11, 1935 near Fonda, Oklahoma in Dewey County.  She departed this life on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at her home in Seiling.  She was 75 years of age.

      Norma Jean, along with her twin sister, Norma Joan and their other brothers and sisters were raised east of Seiling in the Fonda Community.  She attended school at Pumpkin Ridge.  She was united in marriage to Raymond Gene Buffalomeat in 1956 at Kingfisher, OK.  They made their first home in Kingfisher and later moved to Cincinnati, OH, then to Dallas, TX before moving to Seiling in 1973.  They had been married 47 years at the time of Raymond’s death February 13, 2003.  Norma began working for the Seiling Public Schools in the custodial and maintenance department.  She retired after 24 years with the school system.

      Norma and Raymond were charter members of the Indian Baptist Church where they faithfully attended.  She liked attending the various Indian dances and singing at tribal events.  She worked crossword puzzles but mostly she enjoyed her children and grandchildren. 

      She is survived by four daughters: Rowena Beaver and husband Joseph Nightwalker, Dana Buffalomeat and husband Denny Standingwater, Susie Wolfmule and husband Tim Wolfmule Sr. and Jo Borunda and her companion, Robert Wolfmule; one son: Burl Buffalomeat and wife Theta all of Seiling; ten grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren; two sisters: her twin-Norma Smith and husband Melvin and Rita Black all of Seiling; one brother: Larry Black of Watonga; three sisters-in-law: Edna Sutton of Canton, Rena Youngbear of Geary and Margaret Spottedcorn of El Reno.  She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Marvin Black and three sisters: Elizabeth Bull, Alice Littleman and Mary Little Coyote. 

      The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at the Seiling Indian Baptist Church with Pastor Gerald Panana, officiating.  Interment followed in the Brumfield Cemetery under the direction of the Redinger Funeral Home.
