ROBERT LOVETT

 ROBERT EMERSON LOVETT, one of seven children born to Claud and Jessie (Emerson) Lovett, was born October 28, 1917 at Taloga, Oklahoma.  He departed this life at his home in Huntsville, Alabama on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the age of 91 years.

      His formal education began in country schools near Taloga and he graduated from Taloga High School with the class of 1936.  He received his Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.  He met Leota Titus while they were both attending college at Southwestern.  They were united in marriage November 23, 1940.  They were blessed with the birth of their daughter Sandra Sue.  Bob taught school for a short time in Longdale and received word of a job opening in Boca Raton, Florida in radio electronics where he was a radar instructor.  Bob and Leota moved to Biloxi, Mississippi where they lived several years and he worked for Civil Service as a radar specialist.  Later, they moved to Huntsville, Alabama where he continued his work at the Redstone Arsenal.  He retired in July 1978 after working thirty six years as a specialist in radar, electronics and missiles.  Following his retirement, he and Leota enjoyed traveling not only domestically but around the world.

      He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Leota Lovett March 19, 2009.  He is survived by his daughter: Sandra Lovett Berg of Huntsville, AL; one granddaughter: Regina Berg of Chicago, IL; two grandsons: Sandon Berg of New York City, NY and Daniel Berg of Seattle, WA; one great grandson: Alasair Berg of Seattle, WA; two sisters: Ruth Hargis of Mutual, OK and Lila Holloway of Denver, CO, as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.       

      A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2009 in the Brumfield Cemetery at Seiling, OK with Rick Forthman, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.  Services are under the direction of the Redinger Funeral Home in Seiling.
