SADIE MAE (COLEMAN HUME) BRADY was born August 9, 1916 in Fort
Worth, TX to H. L. Coleman and Sadie Williams Coleman. Her
mother died in childbirth. She was reared by Aunt Mayme
Williams Hume and Dr. R. R. Hume in Minco, OK.
She
graduated from Minco High School in 1934 and later met Merle Brady
at Hills Business School in Oklahoma City. They were married
in 1935, making their home in Seiling. They had two children:
Robert Hume Brady and Judith Ann Brady Weeks. Sadie Mae was a
member of the First Christian Church in Seiling.
The
Brady’s were wheat farmers and raised thoroughbred horses, spending
many seasons in Hot Springs, AR at Oaklawn producing many winners.
They were most proud when their horse, Minco, won a race on opening
day at Remington Park.
They
celebrated 65 years of marriage before Merle’s passing. In
2005, Sadie Mae moved to the Statesman Independent Living at The
Vineyards in Oklahoma City. She regretted leaving her
long-time Seiling friends but made new friends at the Statesman.
Her friends and family would characterize her as a “classy lady”
with a warm personality and cheerful sense of humor. She was
predeceased by her parents, husband Merle and a grandson-in-law:
