The
late N.S. and Maude Redinger founded the Redinger Funeral Home in 1914.
They had two daughters and two sons. In 1947, N.S. wanted to retire and
his two sons, Willard and James entered into a partnership in the
Redinger family business. Like many early day funeral homes in small
rural communities, the Redinger Family was also involved in a hardware
and furniture business. In 1971, Ronnie Redinger, son of James and
Ramona, graduated from
Central
State
University
in Edmond, OK with a degree in Mortuary Science. In 1972, he married
Linda Stokesbury and they purchased his uncle's half of the business.
On January 1, 1982, they purchased the remainder of the business from
Ronnie's parents, James and Ramona Redinger. Ronnie and Linda's oldest
son, Dustin, graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond
also with a degree in Mortuary Science in 1997. He became the fourth generation
involved with the family business. The Redinger Funeral Home is the
oldest family-owned business still in existence in Seiling, Oklahoma.
Something unique to the Redinger Funeral Home is their Redinger Funeral
Museum. The Museum contains artifacts, memorabilia, horse drawn hearse
and many other articles of interest. The Redinger Funeral Home Museum
was featured on the television show "Discover
Oklahoma"
October
28, 2006.
